Southern Virginia University Appoints Brant Brown as Director of Admissions

Brant Brown

Associate VP of Strategic Enrollment Kenzie Cox has named Brant Brown as Director of Admissions. In this role, Brown will lead the university’s recruitment strategy, outreach initiatives, admissions processes, and partnerships in support of the university’s enrollment goals.

“We are thrilled to welcome Brant to the team,” said Cox. “He brings a wealth of experience and a strategic vision and has a genuine passion for helping students find their path. I am confident that his leadership will empower our team to connect with prospective families in new and meaningful ways.”

Brown brings nearly twenty years of experience in higher education recruitment and enrollment management. He will focus on improving the admissions experience, supporting admissions counselors through outreach events and campus visits, working closely with Student Success and Financial Aid to support retention, and expanding the role of student ambassadors in the campus visit experience.

“I love working in admissions because you get to be a part of this new journey students are embarking on,” said Brown. “It’s so uplifting to help them see the opportunities that college affords and see their excitement when they realize that it’s an achievable goal for them.”

Brown says he is excited to encourage more prospective students to visit campus and discover the unique opportunities available to them at SVU.

“Helping a student visit campus is a pivotal moment in their journey to becoming a Knight,” he said. “When students can see themselves here—when they can picture themselves as Knights—it makes a huge difference in them determining that Southern Virginia is the right fit for them.”

Prior to joining Southern Virginia University, Brown spent nine years at Weber State University, where he served as the associate director of admissions from 2016–20 and director of recruitment outreach from 2020–25. He also spent seven years at Northern Arizona University in a variety of roles, including senior admissions counselor, assistant director of transfer credit evaluation, and associate director of undergraduate admissions and orientation. Earlier in his career, he worked as an admissions coordinator at Western Wyoming Community College.

Brown holds a master’s degree in business administration with an emphasis in marketing from Southern Utah University and a bachelor’s degree in marketing from Utah State University. He competed as a football player at Weber State and Utah State and served as a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Russia Rostov-na-Donu Mission. He and his family live in Rockbridge County, Va.
